Lash guide
A lot of my clients are getting their first set. Here is the whole thing, so nothing about it is a surprise.
Come with a clean, makeup-free face — anything left on the lash line stops the adhesive bonding, and I will otherwise spend your appointment cleaning instead of lashing.
Skip the coffee. Caffeine makes eyes flutter and relaxed eyes give a better set.
Be on time. More than fifteen minutes late and we have to reschedule, because there is not enough time left to do it properly.
If the front door is locked, call or text me at (803) 431-4387 — I am in a suite inside a larger salon and I will come let you in.
We talk before anything goes near your eyes. I look at your natural lashes — how many, how strong, how they grow — and at your eye shape, and I tell you what I can safely apply.
If you brought a photo, show me. I will tell you honestly how close I can get on your lashes, which is usually closer than you expect and occasionally not close at all.
You do not need to know any of the vocabulary. Most people do not. I will explain what I am choosing and why, so next time you know what you like.
You lie on a bed with a pillow and a blanket. I tape the under-eye and place gel pads to keep your lower lashes out of the way, then your eyes stay closed for the rest of the appointment.
You will not see anything, and you cannot open your eyes mid-way — that part surprises people, so I am saying it here. If you need to move, stretch or use the bathroom, just say so; nothing is going to break.
Most people fall asleep. Genuinely most. The rest of us chat the whole way through, which is also fine.
There is no pain. You will feel the tweezers touch your lash line and a slight coolness from the adhesive. If anything stings, tell me immediately.
I hand you a mirror and we look together. If anything is not what you wanted — too long, too full, a corner that needs more — say it while you are still on the bed. Adjusting then is free and takes minutes.
Keep them dry for 24 hours, which means no steam, no swimming and no hot yoga. After that, live normally.
Book your fill before you leave, two to three weeks out. That is the appointment that keeps this from being a one-off.
This is the question everyone asks, so I will answer it plainly: applied properly, no. The technique that matters is isolation — every extension goes on one single natural lash, never bridging two.
Bridged extensions are what cause damage, because two lashes on different growth cycles get glued together and the stronger one pulls the weaker one out. That is bad application, not extensions as a category.
The other half is weight. I will not put a length or a fan on your lashes that they cannot carry, however much you want it. That is the part where I am occasionally the bearer of bad news.
More on this: lash health and damage.
Amber did an amazing job understanding what I was looking for, talking me through the process and after care, and making my first experience getting lashes comfortable!
A mini set is $120 and an hour, and it is how most of my first-time clients begin. You can always go fuller next time.
