Lash guide
Each extension lasts as long as the natural lash it is attached to. The set as a look lasts two to three weeks. Those are two different questions and the difference is the whole answer.
One extension is bonded to one natural lash and stays there until that lash sheds naturally, which is usually somewhere between six and eight weeks depending where in its cycle it was when I applied it.
So on the day of your full set, some of the lashes I am working on are brand new and some are already most of the way through their life. Both get an extension; they just leave at different times.
You lose a handful of natural lashes a day, every day, extensions or not. Two weeks in you have lost enough that a trained eye can see it. Three weeks in, so can you.
That is why fills exist at two to three weeks, and why the honest answer to "how long do they last" is not the six-to-eight-week number you will see quoted elsewhere. Nobody wants to be seen in a set that is six weeks old.
Past four weeks, so little of the original set remains that a fill is not viable and it becomes a full set again.
Oil. Oil-based cleanser, oily skin, heavy sunscreen — oil breaks the bond down. This is the number one cause of a set that fails early.
Heat and steam. Daily hot yoga, saunas and long steamy showers all cost you extensions.
Sleeping face-down. Mechanical, not chemical, and completely obvious when I see the set — one side is always worse.
Picking and rubbing. Every extension you pull off takes a natural lash with it.
Not cleansing. Counter-intuitive, but a dirty lash line holds a bond worse than a clean one. Ten minutes at your fill, $15, or daily at home.
Three full weeks of a set you are happy to be seen in, ending with a fill rather than a rescue. That is the target, and most people hit it once the aftercare habits are in place.
If your sets consistently fall apart at ten days, something is wrong and it is usually fixable — cleanser, sleeping position, or an adhesive that does not suit your eyes. Tell me and we will work it out rather than you quietly booking elsewhere.
